PEOPLETANK, an unsigned indie band out of Poulsbo, WA, were gracious enough to send me a copy of their demos. They are a rock/grunge band, currently playing well known venues around Washington State, such as The Seamonster Lounge, The Break Room, and The Looney Bin. The demo I received consists of four songs, Indecision, Little Gun Store, Crucified, and Breathe, all of which are great songs, not too heavy, not wimpy, just cohesive rock that keeps you well engaged. Red Queen Theory Mixes the Far East With the NW

Except for the wonderfully creative lyrics, I’ve never been one for Goth music. I find it dark and depressing, but the sound that is Red Queen Theory is one that takes its listeners to an enchanted place, with warm tones of the Far East, to the sound that is Seattle’s own grinding grunge. One of the first things to grab the listener’s attention are the lead vocals of Liz Tseng, whose eclectic style grabs its audience and carries it through to the completion of each song. With Jenny Chung on background vocals and keyboards, the harmony between the ladies is a match made in rock and roll heaven. They are the Far East aspect of this group. Able Ames on lead guitar has a sound familiar to some of the greatest 80’s hard rock and metal bands to ever be recorded, and a passion that is easy to hear by the way that he plays. The bass lines of David Ames, mixed with Simon Hilsman on drums completes this package. Ames and Hilsman are as tight and on-point as they could possibly be, bringing the Seattle grunge sound into the mix, hence the complete package.
While the “original” Red Queen Theory from Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass meant to run in place as fast as you can just so you can stay in one place, or you must run twice as fast in order to get anywhere, the “Seattle” Red Queen Theory shouldn’t find it too difficult to get somewhere in the world of music. In fact, they have already arrived. With regular gigs around some of Seattle’s most popular venues, such as Club Motor and Hayley’s, and a new EP available on CD Baby released in April 2011, Red Queen Theory is sure to go places.
